The club opened its doors to the public on May 13 and 14th as part of the Berry festival held annually at the Placer County Fairgrounds. This year’s event had been well advertised on TV and thousands of people attended. We estimated that over 1400 people came through our doors over the two days and enjoyed seeing our N and HO layouts in operation. The public were particularly enthralled with seeing themselves on TV via the camera car operation and loved the many cameo scenes on both layouts. Of course, some of them reveled in the fortunately few operational mishaps that we had. One incident involved a caboose backing into the front of a large steam locomotive, somewhat puzzling since the caboose was moving forward at the time (!!). Many thanks to the club members that came down to prepare and help host and entertain the public on these two days and make the Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad a success in the eyes of many.
