This years International Railfair went very well with good attendance on the Saturday despite the polluted atmosphere from the Disastrous fires in Northern California. Sunday was less well attended almost certainly due to the smoky environment. However those that came along had a good time and were able to enjoy many railroad displays and Vendor displays. Our own club were displaying a completed Switching layout that the public could use in addition to our large HO layout and extended N scale layout. The HO layout has recently been refurbished with new refinery details, roundhouse details and major tweaks to Norden town, Colfax and Dutch Flat. The N scale layout has been extended and now features a large loop across new bridges and cuttings.
Another new feature was the large Old Time Train cut out produced by Bill Deitchman to entertain the kids. This featured a cab complete with whistle and bell. Several children didnt want to leave and had to be dragged off with their parents saying “there are other trains here that we can see!”
The club also co hosted several tables with Roseville Historical Society and donated items were sold off at very good prices!!
