Press Release : Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad Club donates to the Shriners Hospital for Children
2018 was an exciting year for the Roseville Roundhouse Model Railroad Club. A record level of donations into the club has occurred and for this the Club has been very grateful to those who have donated. One thing that has made the situation even more rewarding is that the Club gives 50% of the proceeds to the Shriners Hospital. A presentation was made to Melissa Wood, Associate Director of Donor Development of the Shriners Hospital of a check for $2147 by several of the Club’s officers including Dick Strahl, President, Gary Soler, Treasurer and Keith Waddell, Secretary. “This is the largest donation that we have ever received from your club” said Melissa Wood to Keith Waddell. Keith replied that they were pleased to be able to help such a worthy cause and that the increase in donations reflects the activity of the club in the community via its web site and its presence at key events at the Placer County Fairgrounds (now @ The Grounds), where the Club is currently housed. Despite concerns over its future at the fairgrounds, Keith says “we hope to continue to play a part in our Roseville Community by reaching out to the younger generation and encourage them in our fantastic hobby, as well as supporting key institutions like the Shriners Hospital for Children”.
