Detailed Description (What):
Distillery grain is off loaded from covered hoppers and then put in cargo ship containers and then loaded on wellcars to be sent to port for export.
Reason(s) (Why):
This would give us an opportunity to service grain cars and intermodal cars and would only require two tracks. It could also be easily incorporated next to the TOFC or Intermodal facility that has been suggested for the extension.
Notes:
Union Pacific has an operation like this in place at Yermo, CA which can be viewed on Google Earth. It’s pretty cool.
Here is a link to a transload facility in Tacoma, WA that is interesting with pictures showing the ops. http://www.tacomatransload.com/transload/transloading.htm and included some pics below please see attachments
10/17/17 discussed, zero cost, completion time 30 minutes.
