Railroad: Rio Grande Road #: 3099
Service Type: Couplers Status: In Process
Reported: 02/11/18 By: John Eilers
Problem Description:
original service request was closed prematurely.
Someone removed the couplers from this engine and they need replaced.
This engine has the very long standing STANDARD upgrade of removing the frame mounts for the couplers. They were mounted to the shell. This serves 2 purposes
1: It allows you to fill in the pilot and/or mount a snowplow without disrupting shell removal and
2: Isolates Metal Kadee Couplers from the in-circuit frame.
The upgrade is well documented and reasonably painless. Styrene shims are used to build up a pad behind the pilot. A standard #5 couple box is then mounted at the appropriate height.
